What a Plant Decommissioning Actually Looks Like
"Plant decommissioning" covers a lot of ground, so here's the honest version of how we run it. Whether you're closing a line, shuttering a facility, or turning a property over to the next owner, the work moves through the same five stages — and skipping any of them is how sites end up with surprise costs, safety exposure, or a building that won't pass a final walkthrough.
Safe shutdown. Before anything moves, systems come down in a controlled order. We coordinate with your operations team to de-pressurize, cool down, and isolate process equipment, and to confirm what's already dead versus what still needs to be taken offline. Nothing gets touched until it's verified safe to touch.
Disconnect & isolation. Power, gas, steam, water, compressed air, and process piping get disconnected and locked out. We handle lockout/tagout, drain and cap lines, coordinate utility disconnects, and manage residual oils, refrigerants, and chemicals so they leave the site through the right channel — not into a floor drain.
Asset recovery. This is where a decommissioning pays for itself. Chillers, boilers, generators, transformers, cooling towers, MCCs, and process machinery often carry real resale or scrap value. We identify what's worth pulling intact, rig it out cleanly, and recover it — and because Demo Dynasty also buys used industrial equipment, we can credit that value straight against the project instead of leaving it on the floor.
Demolition & teardown. Once the valuable assets are out, the remaining structures, supports, mezzanines, conveyors, and fixed equipment come down. We separate ferrous and non-ferrous metals for scrap recovery, break down what's left, and keep detailed disposal manifests for anything that requires them.
Broom-clean turnover. The last stage is the one buyers and landlords actually inspect. We haul out the debris, sweep the slab, and hand back an empty, broom-clean space ready for sale, lease, or renovation — with the recycling reports and disposal documentation to prove how everything left the building.
